We represent the local and national interests of trail riders living in the Wood River Valley area of Idaho. We need YOUR voice JOIN US
We are a chapter of the statewide Back Country Horsemen of Idaho www.bchi.org and in turn, the national Back Country Horsemen of America www.backcountryhorse.com - all non-profit organizations
The Sawtooth BCH chapter functions on its own with our own bylaws, officers, activities and work projects. We have two state Directors who represent our chapter at BCHI Directors Meetings.
The purpose of this organization shall be:
1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America's backcountry and wilderness.
2. To work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
3. To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
4. To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the backcountry resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.
5. To foster harmony between horseback riders and all other trail users by promoting etiquette and cooperative behaviors such as Leave No Trace techniques that will minimize adverse impact on our precious shared resources
